Scooby Doo
It would not be a list of memorable animated dogs if we did not mention Scooby Doo, the lovable Great Dane who has been solving mysteries alongside his friends for over 50 years. Scooby first appeared in 1969 in the television show Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
When this show was originally pitched, Scooby-Doo was supposed to be a sheepdog. Still, the show’s creators decided to make him a Great Dane because they wanted a larger breed of dog to better fit his role as a crime-fighting sidekick.
